Trainers

Jody Hurt Ph.D. is a Psychologist and Clinical Director at CompDrug, a position he has held since 1993.  Dr. Hurt holds Fellow status in the American College of Forensic Examiners and has recognized forensic specialities in the ares of general psychology, substance abuse psychology, and psychological assessments, evaluation and testing.  He received his doctorate from The Ohio State University in 1988 and became a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio in 1989.  Dr. Hurt directs the development and implementation of all clinical treatment programs at CompDrug.  He has shared his expertise over the years as a conference presenter focusing on topics of substance abuse and treatment, co-occurring disorders, psychological assessment and testing, dissociative disorders, developmental trauma disorder, complex trauma syndrome and PTSD.

Ty Sells has been involved in the field of youth development and prevention for over twenty-five years. Ty assists communities and schools in their prevention and youth leadership programs by designing and conducting trainings to meet their needs. He has developed and implemented trainings with content including decision -making, violence prevention, teambuilding, small group facilitation, public speaking and adult/youth connections. He also conducts keynotes and in-services for youth, adults who work with youth, and parents. He is a highly sought after motivational speaker and a recognized leader in the field of prevention and youth development. Ty received the ADAPAO Award for Excellence in Prevention Marketing and in 2012, he was recognized by the Ohio Department of Drug Addiction Services as the “Prevention Innovator of the Year.”

Candace Paulucci, Ph.D., LICDC is a developer and an advocate of Therapeutic Communities (TC’s) in the State of Ohio for CompDrug. She is the Co-author of the Tapestry Immersion training, an experiential training for TC professionals held inside The Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW). She has been involved since its inception in assisting in implementing statewide TC specific training curriculum and has been involved in the collaborative effort of committing to the fidelity of Therapeutic Communities in Ohio through combined trainings. Candace has presented at a variety of National Conferences outside the state and at the World Federation Conferences for Therapeutic Communities in New York City.

Angela Kirk PhD, LSW, LICDCCS received her doctorate in clinical psychology from The Union Institute and University, her MS in Social Agency Counseling from the University of Dayton and her BA in Psychology from Otterbein University. In addition to her work in the area of mental health and addiction, Dr. Kirk is certified as an advanced bereavement counselor and is also certified with EAGALA in equine assisted psychotherapy. Dr. Kirk has spoken at both the national and local levels on the subjects of unresolved grief and addiction, stress management, and other issues related to mental health and recovery. Her dog Grover is the resident therapy dog and she is the author of the weekly blog groveranddoc.com.

Annette Dominguez, LCDC-III, has been a member of the Tapestry Therapeutic Community staff since 1993. Mrs. Dominguez has served Tapestry as a counselor, program supervisor and is currently the Program Director. Mrs. Dominguez has conducted numerous trainings throughout the State of Ohio including cross-disciplinary training and trainer of trainers. She has also trained criminal justice professionals from around the country on the therapeutic community modality. Mrs. Dominguez has presented at several national conferences on the subjects of aftercare and the Tapestry Alumni. Mrs. Dominguez is the Co-founder of the Tapestry Alumni established in 1995. She is also the co-author of the Tapestry Immersion Training, an experiential training for TC professionals held inside Ohio Reformatory for Women.
